Organized since 2010 by the Lions Club Versailles Trianon, the "Dictée de Versailles" (Versailles Dictation) is a highlight of the *Histoire de Lire* book fair. It celebrates the richness of the French language, the joy of words, and a passion for correct spelling.
This year, the dictation challenge will be dedicated to Olympe de Gouges, an iconic figure in the history of women’s rights. To help participants learn more about this extraordinary woman, Cécile Berly—author of a book she will be presenting at the event—will deliver a lecture while the papers are being graded.
The event will also be broadcast live online. Pre-registration is highly recommended.
Special consideration is being given to young people under the age of 25: the first part of the text has been designed to be more accessible, allowing them to compete in a dedicated category and receive tailored prizes.
And the prize for the top young participant promises to be an exceptional experience! The winner will enjoy a half-hour introductory flight lesson alongside an instructor from the Saint-Cyr-l'École airfield—complete with a flight over several historic châteaux!
So, are you ready to take on the challenge, navigate the tricky nuances of the French language, and aim for a flawless performance?
