This event will take place on 23rd November at 4pm at the Church of Saint Elisabeth of Hungary in Versailles, with its grand organ. There will be 60 choristers and 3 soloists, conducted by David Bray from the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.

We tend to forget that for France and a number of its allies, the Second World War did not really end until Japan surrendered on 2 September 1945. That will be 80 years ago.

To commemorate this moment, Charles Gounod's ‘Solemn Mass in Honour of Saint Cecilia’ will be performed the day after the anniversary of its creation on 22 November, 170 years ago. This day is the feast day of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music and musicians, and also the birthday of Charles de Gaulle.
