The FallArtGalerie takes you right to the heart of the exceptional Vaux de Cernay site – a listed site and Natura 2000 area – a place where locals and tourists from the Chevreuse Valley can stop off and explore.
Le Petit Moulin, the centrepiece of the entire site, offers visitors a cultural centre experience. We are creating a new space for connection and sharing centred on culture and heritage, through exhibitions, concerts, performances, lectures, debates, educational programmes and cultural and leisure activities for people of all ages.
Its existence, under the name Moulin de Hotton, was first recorded in 1207. The present building, which underwent major alterations in 1586, has stood the test of time, initially serving as a mill until the 1880s and subsequently as an inn.
The Petit Moulin des Vaux de Cernay has been awarded the ‘Heritage of Regional Interest’ label by the Île-de-France region. This label is awarded to buildings or complexes not listed by the Centre des Monuments Historiques that are of proven heritage value and are representative at the Île-de-France regional level.
The FallArtGalerie has now taken over the cultural management of the Petit Moulin and is coordinating a comprehensive project aimed at raising awareness of this natural, historical and cultural heritage. This heritage is used as a catalyst for culture, social cohesion and education.
This project aims to open the Petit Moulin to visitors and to raise awareness of, or help people rediscover, the site by organising a series of events that bring together various public and voluntary sector organisations and forge lasting links with marginalised groups, school groups and visitors to the valley…
The project draws on the Petit Moulin not only as a built heritage site but also as an interpretation centre. It also draws on the natural site of the Vaux de Cernay and the diversity of its natural treasures.
