The Museum of Folk Arts and Traditions brings together the spiritual, artistic and material heritage of Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines.

The Museum of Folk Arts and Traditions in Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines is situated in the former ‘Moulin Neuf’, once owned by the Rohan-Guménée family. On 19 March 1974, Mrs Lebon donated the Moulin Neuf to the municipality of Saint-Arnoult, for the benefit of the Historical Society, which established the Museum of Folk Arts and Traditions there.

This museum invites you to explore ‘local’ history. During your visit, you will be able to discover a fragile regional heritage that is often forgotten and swept aside by modern life.

During your visit, you will explore the ‘History’ room, which brings to life the history of the town over the centuries, from the Gallo-Roman era to the present day.
The ‘Minerals’ room contains a significant collection of hard stones, various minerals and meteorites. In the ‘Miller’s Room’, you can see the remains of the wheel from the old mill. You will also discover a reconstruction of the interior of a home dating from the late 19th century, featuring a large display of everyday objects: an iron, a lantern, a doll, a loom… The Museum of Folk Arts and Traditions takes you back to everyday rural life of the time.

The museum’s reception, guided tours, educational activities, upkeep and development are managed by members of the SHSA (Historical and Archaeological Society of Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines and its Region).
