Discover the baroque and audacious world of Basile, ancestor of Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, where fairies, ogres, and princesses come to life. The students of the Conservatory deliver an inventive and vibrant version.

You love Perrault's Sleeping Beauty, you shiver at the witch in the Brothers Grimm's Snow White… but are you familiar with their Neapolitan ancestor?
Long before them, in the 17th century, Giambattista Basile was the first to collect, in sumptuous literary language, tales from the oral tradition.
His Tale of Tales gives voice to myrtle branches that transform into princesses, to fairies with contagious laughter, to greedy and drunken ogres, and to a whole gallery of characters—ferocious, tender, or grotesque.
At once baroque, tragic, wondrous, and joyfully subversive, this teeming universe is a theatrical goldmine. In an inventive staging, the acting students of the Conservatory share some of these tales. An opportunity to delve into the fantastical roots of the Western fairy tale.
