Following the success of Das Rheingold in May 2023, Die Walküre in March 2024, and Siegfried in May 2025, here is the final instalment of the Ring Cycle.

For any opera house, Richard Wagner's Ring – Der Ring des Nibelungen – is one of the pinnacles of opera. Composed between 1853 and 1874, this legendary cycle is structured as a ‘scenic festival’ consisting of a prologue, Das Rheingold, and three days: Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. This famous tetralogy was premiered in its entirety for the inauguration of the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth in 1876.

King Ludwig II of Bavaria's absolute passion for Versailles and Wagner forges a unique link between this Ring and the most beautiful palace in the world...

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Ring (1876-2026), the Royal Opera of the Palace of Versailles has asked the Saarland State Theatre in Saarbrücken, which has been staging each of the four Ring operas for the past three seasons, to come and present them in concert version at Versailles.

For every German opera house, staging a regular production of the Ring Cycle is a tradition. The singers of the permanent troupe, for whom it is a staple of the repertoire, are joined here by Wagnerian soloists who perform the major roles in all German-language operas. It is therefore a project rooted in 150 years of practice that the Saarbrücken Opera House has been presenting in Versailles for the past four years.
