The last Queen of France, whose destiny was both exceptional and tragic, yet glamorous, deserved a ballet: Thierry Malandain created a tailor-made costume for her in a colorful show deeply dedicated to Versailles and its Royal Opera.
Designated as the evil genius of the kingdom and blamed for all its misfortunes before her body was carried away on a wheelbarrow, her head between her legs...: Marie Antoinette. Without her carefree nature, her reluctance to fulfill her role as queen, Trianon, her favorites, her coquetry, her diamonds; without the court's excesses exaggerated by pamphlets and caricatures, without the Revolution and the belief that bloodshed contributed to progress, she would certainly have continued her frivolous existence and would not have died tortured. How did a queen adored by an entire people lose their affection before dying of their hatred? How did the woman who embodied the symbol of royalty help to hasten its downfall?
