After Paris and the Roads of France, Lorànt Deutsch takes another look at French history, this time examining... our language.

First surprise: the ancestor of French was not Gallic but ‘Roman’, the Roman language derived from the Latin of Julius Caesar, the conqueror of Gaul. Over the course of invasions and conquests, this Latin was enriched by contributions from all sides, before becoming the triumphant French of our philosophers, so highly prized in the courts of 18th-century Europe.

Here Lorànt Deutsch puts his talent as a storyteller to work on a fascinating subject that will appeal to history buffs and linguistics buffs alike.
The actor continues his work of popularising French history, this time to help us better understand and appreciate the French language.
In a one-man show, Lorànt Deutsch invites us to follow in the footsteps of the French language and history. This new interactive version of the free adaptation of his book Romanesque, la folle aventure de la langue française promises a delicious introspection into the language of Molière. The audience will be able to participate before the end of the performance.
