To mark European Heritage Days, come and explore the historic buildings on Rue de l’Indépendance Américaine in Versailles.

Stroll through the Grand Commun, the Vestibule of the Congress Hall, the Cour des Bouches, the Cour de Monsieur, the Hôtel de la Guerre and the Choiseul Municipal Library. Throughout your tour, students will offer you short guided talks to help you understand the history of these places and the role of Versailles in the American War of Independence.
Inside the Grand Commun, you can explore an exhibition of photographic archives and archaeological finds showcasing the history of the street.
You’ll also have the chance to explore the sites via a free online treasure hunt on the ‘Crytors in the City’ app, available on Google Play and the App Store. The aim is to piece together an abandoned notebook from which several pages are missing.
Finally, at the end of your visit, you can access the King’s Kitchen Garden via the Pièce d’eau des Suisses.
