Under the title ‘Italian Baroque Harmony’, the Ensemble Jubilate de Versailles performs Niccolò Jommelli's Dixit Dominus as well as Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus and Magnificat.

As musical director, Michel Lefèvre juxtaposes two works composed based on Psalm 110 from the Old Testament: the Dixit Dominus, an essential psalm in Christian liturgy.

A centrepiece of the 18th-century sacred repertoire, Jommelli's Dixit Dominus has recently been rediscovered by baroque ensembles. It is considered an essential milestone in the evolution of Italian sacred music, remarkable for its creativity and avant-garde orchestral modernity, incorporating solo arias reminiscent of opera. Its rediscovery, supported by specialist ensembles such as the Ensemble Jubilate de Versailles, has made it a favourite for performance today.

This concert is being given in aid of Voisins & Soins, an association that provides home care for seriously ill or terminally ill people, thanks to a team of trained volunteers and carers.
