To mark the 22nd Rendez-vous in the Gardens, the Château de Versailles is putting the spotlight on the Royal Orangery, which still preserves a priceless historic collection of boxed trees.
Visit the Orangery
As part of the theme of the Rendez-vous aux Jardins, ‘Gardens of stones, stones in the garden’, mediators will be on hand on the Orangery lawn throughout the weekend to introduce the public to the various sculptures. In particular, they will be talking about the four monumental sculpted groups on the pillars of the Orangerie gates and their restoration, which will require a major project (2020-2022).
Free admission from 9am to 6.30pm (last admission at 5.45pm via the Orangerie Gate).
Temporary cinema at the Orangerie
- Throughout the weekend, the public will be able to watch extracts from films shot in the gardens of Versailles in a unique location. They will be able to see Le Roi danse (Gérard Corbiau, 2000), Versailles, le rêve d'un roi (Thierry Binisti, 2008) and a selection of Gaumont-Pathé archives. In the afternoon, the screenings will be punctuated by musical interludes performed by students from the Versailles Conservatoire.
- On Saturday and Sunday mornings, an episode of the cartoon Belfort et Lupin, produced in partnership with the Château de Versailles, will be screened for young audiences.
- On Saturday evening, there will be a free screening of the film Le Roi Danse to mark the film's 25th anniversary. Reservations required on www.chateauversailles.fr
